The field for the 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings, December 1-8, got a lot more exciting for local sports fans with the conclusion of the Capital One Canada Cup… and starting tomorrow they can take advantage of a great ticket offer to experience live championship curling at its best in Winnipeg’s MTS Centre.
The Rocks in Your Socks promotion, featuring a pair of tickets to one of the first two draws priced at $39, will go on sale December 6 at 10:00 am Central Standard Time, just in time for holiday shopping.
“We’re providing this unique ticket offer to give new and young fans the chance to experience what could be a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Host Chair Mitch Tarapasky, “You never know if you’ll get another chance to make this kind of connection with future Olympians!”
Added to the Winnipeg field, with wins at the 2012 Capital One Canada Cup in Moose Jaw on Sunday, were the Stefanie Lawton foursome from Saskatoon and the Winnipeg team led by Jeff Stoughton, each earning a coveted berth in the Canadian Curling Trials – and the chance to wear the maple leaf at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
“We’re obviously thrilled to have another home town team qualify,” commented Tarapasky. “We already know the Jennifer Jones and Stoughton teams will be on the ice and with Stefanie Lawton getting her spot, we’re going to see a lot of our great neighbours from the west adding a touch of green to our building.”
No one was more excited with the results than Stoughton. “It will be the thrill of a lifetime to play in front of a packed house in our home town with 14,000 people cheering on the local teams… we’ve never had that opportunity before. And, hopefully it will draw interest from the young bloods and we’ll see some new faces in the crowds.”
Stoughton and Lawton will join previous qualifiers Kevin Martin, Glenn Howard, Jennifer Jones and Heather Nedohin in the MTS Centre next December. Three more teams of each gender will be determined at the end of the season based on Canadian Team Ranking System standings. The final two men’s and women’s teams will advance through the Tim Hortons Road to the Roar November 5-10 in Kitchener to fill out the 16-team field.
In addition to the Rocks in Your Socks promotion, fans also have the opportunity to pick up the Old Classic full event pass for $429 to guarantee the best seats in the house for all 18 draws. It includes an early bird bonus with a pair of tickets to the first two draws on opening weekend for every package purchased before December 24.
The new Flex Mini Pack for those who want to tailor their own personal ticket package will be on sale in February of 2013 at a price of $469. That’s when fans can pick the draws they really want to see at the times that work best for their schedule.
All ticket packages can be purchased online at curling.ca/tickets or by phone at 1-877-985-2875.
Every ticket to the 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings also comes with complimentary admission to the Patch where fans and competitors gather to enjoy a tasty array of food and beverages and dance to the sounds of some of the country’s best bands.
The Patch will be located just a short indoor walk from the arena in the Winnipeg Convention Centre… also home to the Team Autograph sessions and Up Close and Personal interviews where fans have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the athletes.
The Host Committee will be recruiting volunteers to fill 1,000 positions, serving in a variety of roles. Prospective volunteers will be able to register online starting December 7 at the 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings volunteer page at curling.ca
