Craig Baker | Executive Director

Craig has spent his personal and work life involved in sport; from athlete, to coach, to administrator. Craig has worked with multi-sport Games, world championship, and provincial sport organizations. Currently, As Executive Director of CurlManitoba and he leads a team of dedicated staff to pursue and develop initiatives targeting the growth, development and events. Previously, Craig was the Executive Director of the Sport Medicine and Science Council of Manitoba and the Development Coordinator for Hockey Manitoba. Craig has also been a Canada Games athlete, provincial team coach and a volunteer with a variety of local sporting events and community teams. Craig’s most important job is being the father of two aspiring multi-sport athletes and he spends as much time as possible coaching and cheering them from the sidelines.

Elaine Owen | Event/Development Manager

Elaine’s career was in the field of administrative management and once she retired she wanted to support others in the wonderful world of curling.

Elaine was a competitive athlete and involved in the development of curling for many years. Elaine truly believes that curling can make better citizens by teaching life skills such as proper etiquette, politeness and respect.  The sport encourages good sportsmanship and develops lifelong friends.

At CurlMantoba Elaine strives to enhance grassroots and oversee the rigorous event schedule.

jill Officer | High Performance Director

At Curl Manitoba, Jill is responsible for the Junior Development Program and the High-Performance Program. Both programs target youth development of skills such as delivery, sweeping, and strategy, with the HP program also developing knowledge such as mental performance, nutrition, dry-land training and more to help foster the skills of a high-performance athlete.

Jill is a four-time World Championship medalist including two gold in 2008 and 2018.  She is a record-tying six-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts Champion and also made history with her team to be the first ever women’s team to go undefeated in Olympic competition and ultimately win the Olympic Gold Medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

In 2018, when Jill retired from elite play, she knew she wanted to stay involved in curling because it is her community. While now being the high-performance manager at Curl MB, Jill is also the chair of the World Curling Federation Athlete Commission; World Curling TV colour commentator; a member of the Curling Canada Mental Health Task Force; and a consultant for Curling Canada’s Next Gen program. Jill also went back to university in 2020 and is halfway through her Degree in Kinesiology.

Jill’s personal interests are spending time with her family at their seasonal campsite near Beausejour; fishing; reading; being with friends.

Laurie Macdonell | Event/Development Coordinator

At CurlManitoba Laurie is responsible for advising and assisting host committees to provide quality championship events for our athletes and spectators.  In a development capacity she organizes and oversees the school tournament and Hit, Draw, Tap.  These activities introduce curling to approximately 1400 youth.  Laurie previously worked at MTS as an account manager on the cellular side of the business after which she was a stay at home mom to her two boys who are now pursing post secondary opportunities.

Laurie has curled for over 30 years.  She has played both recreationally and competitively, and has participated in seven provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts, three Mixed Provincial Championships, and three Mixed Doubles Provincial Championships.  She also enjoys golf (even though she is regularly beaten by both of her children) and playing ultimate Frisbee.  In her spare time, she can be found in a hockey arena, curling rink or on a golf course cheering her boys on.

Tracey Ewasko | Office, Partner & Membership Coordinator

Role at CurlManitoba:

  • Tracey’s responsibilities at the office are generally membership and customer based.
  • Look after all membership inquiries, club-related information, scholarship information, entries, administrative duties, and all office-related tasks.

Curling Involvement/Philosophy:

  • Tracey has been a competitive curler for almost 30 years and participated in many Provincial Championships. She has taken the last 10 years off to raise her two sons and spends her extra time helping them with their junior curling program, managing their hockey teams, and driving them to baseball & soccer league games and camps. Curling is her passion and she looks forward to being part of CurlManitoba for many years to come.

Amy Coggan | Accountant

CurlManitoba Role:

Amy is responsible for management information on the finance side of CurlManitoba and organizes support for the Curling for Life Endowment Fund and the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame.

Personal Interests:

Amy has worked in Accounting for 8 years and is working towards her Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting.  She has also taken a Culinary Arts Program at Red River and worked in the Hospitality Industry for over 20 years, with the majority of her work being in the golf industry.
In her spare time she is active with her nieces, baking reading and coaching their baseball teams.  Amy also plays on her own slow pitch team.

Erika Radosevic | Development/Event Coordinator

At Curl Manitoba, Erika is responsible for assisting host committees in providing quality championship events for U18, Mixed, Mixed Doubles, and Scotties.  She also organizes skill development camps and training, junior programs, and coaching courses. Erika previously worked at a personal care home as a recreation coordinator for 9 years.

Erika has curled for over 20 years. She has participated in 3 Juniors, 5 Women’s and 5 Mixed Provincial Championships, and has won a Junior Provincial and Mixed Provincial Championship. She enjoys spending her spare time with her family, taking her two children to their activities and spending time outdoors.
