 Posted 2009-11-18Team Riley Smith (Pembina) and Team Alex Forrest (Deer Lodge CC) have both qualified to the Provincial Junior Men’s Championship held at the Deer Lodge Curling Club by earning Berths at the Curl Manitoba – Junior Men’s Berth Bonspiel.
Smith earned his way into the Provincials by defeating Andrew McMillan (Wildewood) 8-5 in the first semi-final while Forrest got by Sam Good (Stonewall) 8-5 in the other semi-final. Smith won his quarter-final matchup by defeating Steen Sigurdson (Portage La Prarie) 8-7 while Forrest defeated Ian Campbell (Charleswood) 6-1 in his quarter-final.
Team Smith is made up of Skip Riley Smith, Third Josh Claeys, Second Trevor Grenkow, and Lead Eric Wasylenko.
Team Forrest consists of Skip Alex Forrest, Third Joey Witherspoon, Second Connor Njegovan, and Lead Michael Neufeld.
The Provincial Junior Men’s Championship will be held at the Deer Lodge Curling Club in Winnipeg, December 18-22.
