Wheelchair Curling
It’s a Simple Game!!
The West Kildonan Curling Club held a curling clinic on October 6th & 7th, 2007.
We were fortunate to have with us Chris Daw - the skip for the Canadian Wheelchair Curling team and Bill Tschirhart - coach.
We were also pleased with the amount of new people & teens that showed interest. With numbers like that, wheelchair curling will reach a whole new level.
The agenda for the two days consisted of theory and Q & A in the morning, lunch and the afternoon on the ice.
Mr. Daw & Mr. Tschirhart through verbal explanations, demonstrations, hands on and one to one instruction…created a very positive, effective and fulfilling atmosphere for all.
New to some, were two electronic devices. One of the devices measured how fast your rock is traveling when it passes the hog line and secondly, which I thought is a superb way for the athlete to improve, is watching themselves through videotape. I believe these two instruments should be a must for any team.
The curling clinic was a tremendous success.Thank you to all who participated and to Mr. Chris Daw and Mr. Bill Tschirhart, your presence and your curling wisdom was and always will be greatly appreciated.
West Kildonan Curling Club has a wheelchair curling organization in place. For more information pick up the phone and call 339-5412.
